Denise again

Denise has been gone for 10 days. It's weird how I lived across the street from her and have thought of her more these past 10 days than I did during the entire month of April or May or many other months. It has been traumatic, but knowing that she accepted Jesus and is not in pain has really been a comfort to me. I've told several people that because of this, I will ask everyone I meet how old they were when they accepted Christ and were baptized. So, how old were you when you accepted Christ? How old were you when you were baptized? If you haven't done these things, would you let me tell you about Jesus and what He's done for me?
He's my Savior and Redeemer. Sooo many times He has protected me, even when I didn't realize I needed protecting until later. Jesus rescued me when I felt like I was worth absolutely nothing! I cannot tell you enough about my Jesus.

On the way to school one morning when my son was only 4 and in PreK, I stopped to move a turtle (which I always do...I'll explain that part later). He complained that he would miss free stations because we were running late, so I told him to watch the clock...this would only take 2 minutes. It only took 2 minutes and we were on our way. We arrived in our town at an intersection that was pretty dangerous and there were 3 cars crashed. An EMT was already on the scene. When I asked him if I could help, he said, "No. Keep moving. This just happened not 3 minutes earlier. I am  an EMT and the ambulance is on the way." Do you have chills yet? God allowed me to see that He used that turtle to keep my son and me out of that accident. It looked like a pretty bad one and I am thankful even now (19 years later) that God delivered us! Here's a link to the full story...

Denise

Today is a sad, sad day. Denise, my long-time friend and neighbor, died this morning around 3:00. The docs aren't sure if she had a cardiac episode (heart attack), threw a clot (blood was seen in her brain) from the surgery to fuse some discs in her neck back in May, or mixed some of her pain meds and other meds that shouldn't have been mixed. It was a long, emotional day yesterday with most of the day spent in prayer followed by an early morning (1:20 a.m.) phone call to return to the hospital because the doctors could do no more for her. Her blood pressure kept dropping and they had her on the max amount of drugs they could pump into her body to try to keep her here. It was just her day to fly. I'm praying for her brother and nephew...the only two left from her immediate family.

I have so many wonderful memories of growing up together in the "Abilene" community. Denise is the second very close friend I've lost from my childhood. I don't want to do this again! :*(
