Life. It continues. Change is inevitable. Change is the only thing that remains constant in this world, huh? How depressing. How sad. How totally desperate I would be if this were my reality. It isn't. How? This life is just a vapor, according to God. Poof! It's over. Like a blade of grass, withering in the sun, we pass through 70 or 80 years. My mom just turned 70. She told my dad they are in their last decade. He's 71. His prayer at her birthday dinner was so sweet...bittersweet. He thanked God for the years they've had together (52) and asked the Lord to be with them for this last decade. They could both live another 2 decades, I know. My gramma (dad's mom) was 93 at her death. My granny (mom's mom) was 72. Thinking of that would scare me to death if I didn't know Jesus. Yep, it's sad. Life marches on. I just know that we aren't promised tomorrow or even the next minute today. For instance, my friend, Debbie, died at age 26-brain aneurysm. My friend, Tim, died at age 44 (I think)-aortic aneurysm. My school chum, Tommy G., died at age 18 or 19-stabbed while working in Atlanta. The list of people who die too young goes on and on. Jesus promised that when we depend on Him, we will have the peace that passes understanding. I can honestly say I don't understand such peace as I feel. I can say I know who gives that peace. It's Jesus. At His Name, the demons have to flee. At His Name, peace invades my heart and soul.
I just thank God every day I still have life, my parents, my husband, my son, my family...because you never know. Do you think that's why the Bible tells us to lay up our treasures in Heaven? I do!
